OUR WORK
Restoring Independence, One Veteran at a Time
A recent request reminded us just how important timely intervention can be for our veterans. We were contacted about a veteran completing rehabilitation who was unable to be discharged because his home did not have a safe way for him to enter and exit independently. Without proper accessibility, returning home simply was not an option.
Although the veteran lived outside of our immediate service area, Operation Restore Hope knew we could not turn away from someone in need. We quickly connected with a contractor in the Lebanon area and helped fund the construction of a wheelchair ramp so the home would be safe and accessible.
Because of the generosity of our supporters and the responsiveness of our volunteers and partners, the project moved fast. Within a week, the ramp was completed and the veteran was finally able to return home to continue his recovery surrounded by the comfort of family and familiar surroundings.
Sometimes the simplest modifications can make the biggest difference. A safe entryway meant more than just access to a house — it meant dignity, independence, and the opportunity for healing at home.
