Helping A Veteran Stay On The Road

On a bitterly cold Friday night, a local Navy veteran named Max found himself in a difficult situation — his gas tank was empty, and so was his wallet. With no fuel in the car, he had no way to get to work. A friend suggested he reach out to Operation Restore Hope to see if there was anything we could do. Without hesitation, ORH met Max at a local gas station and filled the tank of his pick-up truck. He was soon back on the road and on his way to work, and extremely grateful.

It may not seem like a big thing, but to Max it meant everything. Being able to make it to work meant stability, independence, and one less worry during a difficult moment. At Operation Restore Hope, our mission is to help veterans remain safe, independent, and supported. Sometimes that means building a wheelchair ramp or making home repairs. Other times, it’s something as simple as showing up at the gas station on a cold night. Because sometimes the smallest acts of help can make the biggest difference for the men and women who served our country.
