A Safe Return Home For A Local Veteran
During a recent visit to the Helen M. Simpson Rehabilitation Hospital in Mechanicsburg, Operation Restore Hope was introduced to an Army veteran who had recently undergone a leg amputation. As he prepared to return home, one concern weighed heavily on his mind: how would he safely get inside his house?
Although he only needed to navigate two steps to reach his front door, there was no handrail—just a concrete stoop. For someone adjusting to life after amputation, those two steps represented a significant challenge.
Operation Restore Hope immediately reached out to our community partner, Foulds Construction, and they stepped up without hesitation. Their team designed and installed a sturdy handrail, making the veteran’s entranceway safer and giving him greater confidence as he returned home.
At Operation Restore Hope, we know that sometimes the smallest projects can make the biggest difference. We are grateful to Foulds Construction for helping ensure that this veteran could return home with dignity, independence, and one less thing to worry about.
Neighbors helping neighbors. Communities supporting Veterans. That’s what Operation Restore Hope is all about.
